Navman icn 520 Review
With the icn 520, Navman have updated the very popular 510 with new maps, a new operating system & a stylish black case. Will these improvements mean it can compete with the all conquering Tomtom Go range? Lets see.
I was a big fan of the old Navman 510, with its clear 3d maps and small size. I always felt it was let down by voice instructions that were too quiet & the lack of full post code look-up.
Unfortunately the Navman icn 520 hasn't addressed these issues. The voice is still too quiet, even on the loudest settings, and you still have to enter the name of the road you want to go to.
In use the Navman 520 is more than competant, its straight-forward to enter your destination & deals with detours with ease, & the Gps signal was always strong. Its just at the voice commands weren't loud enough, & the 3d maps not as clear as its rivals.
Would I buy a Navman icn 520 as a Gps navigation device for the UK? Only if it was substantially cheaper than its main rival the Tomtom One, which has a better screen, louder commands and full Post Code look up.
