Garmin StreetPilot C310 Review
The Garmin c310 Gps in-car Sat-Nav system boasts an impressive specification. Touch screen, voice command, 3d maps of Uk & Eire on the unit (with European main roads in the box), 256mb Sd card, car-mount & leads.
Available for similair prices to a Tomtom One, how does it compare?
The screen of the Garmin c310 is very good, brighter than Tomtoms, and the map seems crisper & clearer. Voice commands are loud, & the volume wheel on the side of the unit is very useful.
Entering destinations is very simple, just put in country, town, road number & road name. Easy. Partial Post-Code is also an option.
The Garmin makes finding local Points of Interest a Breeze, all the common ones are on the main "where to?" menu. Just press "fuel" for example & a list of local petrol stations appears, in order of distance from where you are.
In use the Garmin c310 works well, dealing with diversions easily, and voice instructions come in with plenty of time.
So, would I buy one? Hmmmm, hard one. The screen is very good, better than tom toms, and the unit feels solid & well made. However I don't think the voice instructions are as "smooth" as a Tomtom One, and there aren't as many route options or full Post-Code look-up.
My recommendation would be to try a Garmin C310 & a Tomtom One, and see which you prefer. If buying blind, definitely buy a tomtom one instead.
